Energy from solar
How does solar power work?
We have all seen solar panels on the roofs of houses and buildings in the local area. Solar power works by harnessing energy from the sun’s rays and converting this into electricity.
What is Severn Trent’s current solar power portfolio?
At the moment we have solar panels on the roof of our award wnning energy efficent headquarters in Coventry, our office building at Shelton and a further 30 ground mount solar sites. We have recently undertaken a new solar project that will produe 190GWh every year over four projects which we aim to finish in early 2026!
How would this electricity be used?
Electricity from a solar farm would be used across the Severn Trent Water business to reduce our demand for power from the National Grid.
