Afternoon Update
Our teams are working hard to make sure everything is back to normal as soon as we can.
The majority of customers water supplies are back on, and we’re focussing now on getting everyone else’s water back on quickly through valving and operating our network.
The pipe that’s burst is 28inches, it’s one of the bigger pipes that feeds the area, so has caused lots of disruption and flooding – we know this area is a well built up community, and we really sorry for the impact that’s been caused and we have teams meeting customers and the local community to support.
Please be assured we’re working with the help of the fire service and others to help reduce the impact, but we would encourage people to avoid the area to prevent getting caught in traffic.
Thank you so much for your patience during this time and the inconvenience it may be causing.
Further Customer Update
We are working to complete repairs after a pipe burst in Stratford Road, Sparkhill, on Friday 6th September, with all customers back on supply by Saturday morning.
This complicated repair of the 28inch pipe – one of our biggest - means we will have to close one lane of Stratford Road and install temporary traffic lights from 7pm on Monday and into Tuesday, to protect our workers and members of the public as we continue working on the network.
We would urge motorists to look for alternative routes where possible to avoid disruption.
Our teams are continuing to liaise with customers and the local community to offer support and we want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we get things back to normal as quickly as possible.
