Christmas Day is for… fixing burst pipes and unblocking sewers
Monday 23rd December 2019
Every year in the UK, around a million people are expected to be working on Christmas day, and staff at Severn Trent are no exception.
Teams at the water company will be fixing burst pipes and unblocking sewers around the clock to keep customers’ taps and toilets working across the Midlands. All so its customers get the same great service all year round no matter what day it is.
Sam Tomlin, who will be working on Christmas Day in Severn Trent’s control centre, making sure any leaks or burst pipes are dealt with, explains: "Christmas time is no different for us - we’re here to help with any water or sewage issues that happen over the festive period. We’re a 24/7 business and we work all day and all night, every day of the year, including Christmas Day to make sure that our customers have wonderful running water for a nice cup of tea or hot steamy shower and aren’t experiencing any sewage problems.
"While many people will be tucking into their turkey, we’ll have people in our call centres and field teams ready to fix burst pipes and clear sewer blockages. So if you have an urgent water or sewage issue at any time, especially over Christmas, we’ll be here, ready to deal with it. Please tweet us @stwater, visit our website stwater.co.uk or give us a call on 0800 783 4444 and we'll be happy to help."
The call centre dealing with customer bills enquiries will be open as usual; 8am till 9pm Monday to Friday, including Christmas Eve and Saturday 8am till 5:30pm, but closed on bank holidays.
