Friday 2nd August 2024
Amazing activities including falconry and circus skills will be on the menu at Draycote Water when it plays host to a very special fun day.
The whole family is being invited along to enjoy the great outdoors and everything that will be on offer at the event.
A whole host of activities taking place on the day, which will go ahead on Wednesday, August 7th, including falconry, circus skills, a bouncy castle, face painting, an animal club, Rural Olympic activity course and much more including food and drink.
Running between 11am and 3pm, most activities will be free, but there will be a small charge of £1 per person for face painting and 50p per child for the bouncy castle.
Donna Marshall, Visitor Engagement Manager at Severn Trent, said: “The fun day is perfect for all the family, and a chance to get out and about, get active and enjoy the great outdoors.
“There are plenty of free and low cost activities going on for everyone to take part in, we know that it’s a challenge to entertain children without a big price tag throughout the holidays so we wanted to put on a family fun day. It’s also a chance to explore Draycote and everything it has to offer. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone along and getting involved with all the fun.”
Along with the Family Fun Day, Draycote will also be hosting a Move with Nature free trail between July 27th and August 11th.
Free to all, visitors can test their knowledge with nature quiz and test their skills trying out some of nature's key movements. There is no trail sheet, visitors just follow the markers around the Country Park, and they are being encouraged to share their photos and videos on social media with the hashtag #STmovewithnaturetrail.
Draycote Water was built back in 1969 and is the biggest body of water in Warwickshire. The depth of the reservoir is a cool 20m or 70ft deep, which is roughly as tall as 5 double decker buses.
Nestled in the heart of Warwickshire, Draycote Water is a 240-hectare reservoir and country park offer a whole host of activities, walks and volunteering opportunities for everyone to take part in.
There is a flat five-mile tarmac pavement around the reservoir (dogs are not allowed on the reservoir trail). Our dog friendly 24-acre country park provides plenty of space to play games and enjoy the outdoors.
The Hensborough Hill top provides spectacular views and is a great place for a picnic and Draycote is also perfect for cycling and twitchers looking for a bit of birdwatching.
The site also has sailing and windsurfing opportunities are on offer for all ages and abilities. To book a lesson contact Draycote Sailing Club. Membership to the sailing club is also on offer for avid sailors.
