Hundreds of jobs up for grabs as Severn Trent’s Big Boost for Brum is back – jobs, virtual reality and cost of living support
11th September 2024
Hundreds of jobs, local employers and free training and support are returning to Millennium Point later this month, for Severn Trent’s third Big Boost for Brum.
The jobs fair with a twist, that has previously welcomed hundreds of job seekers is back on Tuesday 24th September from 10am to 2pm.
The event has been created to help those looking for work or a career change, those who need a bit of extra support or advice when it comes to job hunting – as well as anyone wanting to take advantage of the free skills workshops and training on offer.
Interview training using virtual reality and A.I is on hand, as well as CV workshops – along with cost-of-living support and help with water bills.
Joining Severn Trent are employers such as University Hospitals Birmingham, Kier Group and Coffey Group -to name just a few!
Megan Aplin, from Societal Delivery Manager at Severn Trent said: “This is the third Big Boost event we’ve done in Birmingham, and we’re excited to be back with even more employers and live job vacancies for people living here.
“Each time the venue is packed with people either looking to find work, get some advice from recruiters or taking the opportunity to brush up on their interview skills - and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone again, and seeing people leave feeling more confident and equipped with the ability to make a great first impression to get that job!”
The event builds on the company’s work in region, where it first launched a 10-year plan to support 100,000 people who are at risk of water poverty by tackling one of the underlying causes- unemployment.
The company has been partnering with 15 schools, hosting jobs fairs, as well as delivering mentoring to prison leavers – in its commitment to help support those from marginalised groups with employment opportunities.
“It’s great to see more employers joining us to come together to help boost jobs and skills for Birmingham,” adds Megan. “There’s so much potential and talent here, that we really want to make sure that the people of Brum are getting the most out of the employment support that is available to them – so want to encourage as many people to come along and see what we can offer.”
