Nuneaton MP Jodie Gosling got a firsthand look at how Severn Trent’s making big improvements to the local treatment works, that will create environmental benefits for the area.
The MP had a tour around the company’s Hartshill Sewage Treatment Works in Nuneaton, while hearing more about the investments being made on the site to directly improve water quality.
The site is also part of a wider project, Severn Trent’s Hinckley to Hartshill scheme, that’s seeing more storage created to support with a growing population in an investment of over £120m.
Nuneaton MP Jodie Gosling said: “I know how interested my constituents are in the work Severn Trent are doing at Hartshill so it was interesting to see first-hand investment they are making to increase capacity at the site and improve water quality. It’s important that with any local project, or scheme that we’re aware of the why and importance.”
Whilst I welcome the investment made by Severn Trent to carry out necessary projects that improve river health and our environment, I will be closely monitoring the situation to ensure residents receive a responsive and diligent service from their water provider. I look forward to a more positive and constructive relationship with Severn Trent.”
Lily Harvey, Lead project manager at Severn Trent said: “It’s always great to be able to show people some of the inner workings here at Severn Trent, and the work taking place to improve river quality, and our service to customers.
“This scheme is going to be transformative in how we’re future proofing for the future – and utilising our network and investing to make sure our network is ready for any challenges that climate change and population growth brings.”
Severn Trent is also investing heavily in Warwickshire, as part of its £450m spills programme. The scheme will see hundreds of interventions made to help reduce spills, and improve local river health.
