New water pipes to be installed in Stoke to improve local water pressure
Thursday 11 May
Severn Trent is to install new pipes in Stoke as part of a project to improve the water network in the city.
The company will be replacing water pipes in Longport Road to make sure local residents enjoy an improved water supply.
Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, explains: “We know some customers in the Longport Road area can find they have low pressure in their taps at certain times which is why we’re carrying out this work to improve water pressure in our network to make sure our customers get the best service they can."
Work is scheduled to start on Longport Road on Wednesday 17 May and should be complete by early July.
Gareth added: “We’ll need to have temporary traffic lights in place to allow our contractors from Amey to work safely while they dig down to replace the pipes.
“We’ll work really closely with residents and businesses to make sure access is clear as much as possible, and we’ll keep customers updated on our progress.
“This project will be really beneficial to local customers and will improve their water supply for the future.”
The project forms part of Severn Trent’s commitment to investing in its network which will see the equivalent of £1,400 invested for every home and business it serves between 2015 and 2020.
