Nottingham City Centre water pipe project complete
1st September 2016
Teams from Severn Trent have completed work to replace a leaking water pipe in Nottingham City Centre on time.
To ensure residents and businesses in the city centre continued to have a reliable water source, repair work was needed to renew a section of pipe on Lower Parliament Street. That work has now been completed, with minimal impact on shoppers, local residents and businesses.
Severn Trent Programme Manager Bob Taylor said: “The water pipe had become old and corroded and a large section had to be replaced in its entirety just to make sure there weren’t any future leaks that could cause problems for customers.
“At 18 inches wide, this was one of our bigger pipes that play a vital part in our system that helps supply water to the city centre but we were delighted by the fact that, throughout the six weeks of work, we were able to ensure that water supplies were not affected.
“Great communication between ourselves, customers and businesses allowed this challenging project to run smoothly.
“We’d like to thank the residents and businesses for their continued support and apologise for any inconvenience. With the pipe now replaced, the centre of Nottingham can now enjoy new, modern pipes that will last for many years.”
