Nottinghamshire Club for Young People gifted £16,781 grant from Severn Trent Community Fund

October 14th, 2024

The Nottinghamshire Club for Young People has been gifted a grant of £16,781 from the Severn Trent Community Fund.

Seeing more than 400 people every week, the Club is passionate about helping young people feel healthy, safe, confident and successful. They offer out their venues for hire specifically to youth groups and clubs from the local area, while also putting on accredited courses themselves to provide education and training to those who may not have access to it on a regular basis.

The Club also provides a safe and supportive environment for young people who attend with disabilities or learning difficulties, giving them the chance to learn new skills and have new experiences.

The grant has enabled the Club to improve facilities at their Monty Hind centre by replacing the radiators, installing new roof insulation, and the provision of a new hot water heater in the kitchen, all of which is vital to keep those who visit the centre warm and comfortable.

Rebekah Whiting, from the Nottinghamshire Club for Young People, said: “This grant will make a huge difference to our young people. Having a building that is warm and welcoming is so important, especially to those who visit with medical issues.

“We wouldn’t have been able to make these improvements without the help of the Severn Trent Community Fund, so we’re extremely grateful to them for their support.”

Sue Heyes, Severn Trent Community Fund Officer said: “The Nottinghamshire Club for Young People is a great organisation, providing a safe space for young people in the local area that enables them to flourish, learn new skills and have fun! These clubs are so important in our local communities and really do improve the lives of those they work with.”
