Our work in Birstall will finish three months early – in time for Christmas

We are delighted to report that all of the work in and around Wanlip Lane in Birstall, Leicester will be finished by Christmas – a whopping three months ahead of schedule.

The work, which started in July this year, and was due to be complete in the spring of 2019, is part of a £500,000 scheme to replace three kilometres of pipes installed during Victorian times, and will make water supplies much more secure in future.

Helen Purdy, explains how we’ve achieved it: “We’ve been able to use a direct drilling method which is much quicker and less invasive, meaning we could get the job done quicker.  A lot of time has also been saved through joint working with the local highways team who’ve allowed us to move along without waiting for new permits.

“We did everything we could to minimise the disruption to both residents and commuters in the area and worked with both the local school and church to do the work with the least amount of disruption to them as possible.

“We know when we carry out work that it can be disruptive to our customers, so we’re always checking to make sure we’re working in the most efficient way, so we’re delighted that we can finish this work earlier than planned.  We’re pleased to be able to clear the area in time for Christmas and the new pipes will supply wonderful water to our customers for decades to come.”
