Residents invited to drop-in to learn more about Severn Trent’s £5m Silverdale scheme

3rd September 2024

Residents living in Silverdale are being invited to a drop-in event to learn more about Severn Trent’s project to improve the water quality of Lyme Brook.

The water company is set to invest £5million on its sewage network in the area which will improve systems, reduce sewer flooding and pollution and install more monitoring capability.

This will be done by providing additional storm sewage storage during periods of high rainfall and storm conditions, which will reduce spills to the brook.

The main construction works will take place at Severn Trent’s Silverdale Pumping Station from July 2025 and are expected to last for 12 months.

A planning application has been recently submitted to Staffordshire County Council for the local authority to consider.

The drop-in event is set to go ahead on Friday, September 6th from 3pm to 6pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

It will be going ahead at Cornerstone Community Centre, 65 Mill Street, ST5 6PF when visitors will be able to meet the team and talk through the works in more detail.

Kay Gill, Community Communications Officer, said: “We want everyone to rest assured that we are taking a number of steps in order to reduce disruption and any concerns regarding works.

“We appreciate that it can be inconvenient to have work happening in your area – but please know that we will do all we can to minimise disruption where possible.

“This drop-in session is a chance for everyone to find out more information about what we have planned and see what the site will look like during this construction phase. Please do come along, meet our team and find out more about the project and the long-term benefits it will have.”
