Severn Trent begin work to upgrade water pipes in Chellaston this week
Monday 20th May 2019
Severn Trent will begin work to upgrade water pipes in the Chellaston area of Derby this week.
The water company is investing £190,000 to fit brand new pipes along Sinfin Moor Lane, ensuring residents in the area continue to enjoy a reliable water supply now and for many years to come.
The project to lay 1.5km of new water pipes will begin today (Monday 20th May) and will take approximately eight weeks to complete, with signs and barriers in place, to keep the teams, pedestrians and road users safe.
Seven Trent engineers will start work close to Verona Way and then onto Sinfin Moor Lane, along the cycle route and completing the programme near Lea Farm.
Lisa Orme from Severn Trent, said: “To ensure residents in Chellaston have a reliable water supply for many years to come and to reduce the number of bursts and leaks in the area, we need to upgrade 1.5km of water pipes across the area.
“To carry out this vital work, we will need to put in place temporary road signs and barriers, in order to keep our teams, pedestrians and road users safe.
“We fully appreciate the disruption this will cause, which is why we will do everything we can to minimise the impact on residents, by installing these brand new pipes as quickly and as safely as possible.”
The scheme is part of Severn Trent’s commitment to invest in its infrastructure which will see the equivalent of £1,300 invested for every home and business it serves between 2015 and 2020.
