Water and waste company Severn Trent is to begin the next part of its £13.5m investment in Leicestershire.

The FTSE 100 Company will begin work replacing aging water pipes in Wigston, with work beginning next week. 

Timothy Ip, from Severn Trent said: “Our work across Leicestershire is really progressing well, and we’re looking forward to when our customers will start to experience the benefits from this work.

“By replacing the water pipes in Wigston, we’re making sure that the locals will have a reliable water supply for years to come, as newer pipes are less likely to burst and cause problems.”

Severn Trent working partners Amey, will be carrying out the work on behalf of the company that will see the company starting on Bull Head Street.

This section of work will take around ten days to complete, before moving on to Leicester Road, Wakes Road and Burgess Road.

“While we hope our work doesn’t cause too much of an inconvenience, we will be closing a section of a lane on Bulls Head Street,” adds Tim. “This is to make sure our teams and other road users remain safe as they work.”

Severn Trent has already completed some of £13.5m investment across Leicestershire, and is aiming for this part of the project to be fully complete in by May 2019.

The company expects all work in Leicestershire to be complete by the end of 2019.

“We really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as our investment into improving the water pipes continues in Wigston, and across Leicestershire,” continues Tim. “When we’ve fully finished the project, the area will benefit from miles of new water pipes that will serve the communities for years to come.”
