Severn Trent begins water pipe replacement work in Swinford, Leicestershire

Wednesday 28th October 2020

Water and waste company Severn Trent is to continue its £4million investment in South Leicestershire, as work is set to begin in Swinford.

The company is currently replacing aging water pipes across the county, with the next phase of work beginning next week (2 November) and finishing in early March 2021.

“This is a really important project for the area, as this work is vital in making sure customers will have a reliable water supply for years to come, as newer pipes are less likely to burst and cause problems. We want everyone to have water when they need it, so by making sure our network is in the best possible condition, we’re helping to prevent any problems.”

Severn Trent working partners Amey, will be carrying out the work on behalf of the company that will see the company starting on Rugby Road and working towards Swinford village via Kilworth Road.

The team will then continue into the village along High Street before continuing for a short stretch on Rugby Road as far as Simons Close.

Due to the location of the water pipe, we’ll unfortunately need to complete the work under a road closure, reinstating the road behind us as we progress.

“We’re really sorry for any disruption this may cause, but it’s vital our teams and road users are kept safe as we work,” adds Tim. “It will always be our priority to make sure everything is back to normal as quickly as possible.“We really appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as our work improving the water pipes in Leicestershire progresses,” continues Tim. “When we’ve fully finished the project, the area will benefit from miles of new water pipes that will serve the communities for years to come.”
