Severn Trent calls on customers to sign up for extra support if they need it
Thursday 26 January 2023
In addition to its help for people who may be struggling with the cost-of-living, Severn Trent is asking anyone who may need extra help to sign up for its Priority Service Register (PSR).
Severn Trent’s PSR is used to support customers with special requirements to give them a better, more personalised service, with the water company encouraging customers, friends or family to let them know of anyone who might benefit from extra help if there’s an issue on the network. This can include customers who would need to be checked on in the event of supply issues, customers who need water 24/7, and customers who require password protection schemes
The register helps identify customers with medical conditions, disability or restricted mobility, sight or hearing loss and those who would appreciate receiving their bills in a different format.
Other Severn Trent customer support schemes include:
- Severn Trent Trust Fund – customers who are unable to meet the cost of water charges and who live in the Severn Trent area can apply for help directly and to organisations that work in the area of debt advice;
- The Big Difference Scheme – can offer a cost reduction on water bills for customers on low incomes;
- WaterSure – a scheme that caps customer bills at the average yearly charge, helping customers on low incomes, that have medical conditions, or those with a young family.
Mark Grice, External Relationships Manager from Severn Trent said: “We know that wintertime during the cost-of-living crisis can be a worrying time for some customers, so those who need a little extra support in the event of a problem can get in touch as there is help available.”
“This could be someone with a medical condition, or someone who needs constant water or quick support if there’s any problems with the supply. So please spread the word about our PSR and other support schemes so we can weather the winter together.”
