Severn Trent completing emergency sewer repairs in Derby
16 December
Severn Trent is carrying out emergency work in the Rose Hill area of Derby to repair a problem with the sewers.
The company is currently working to fix a collapsed sewer pipe in Reginald Street serving St James Junior and Rose Hill Infant and Nursey School.
Chris Mulligan, from Severn Trent, explained: “We believe one of our pipes that takes sewage away from the school has collapsed and we need to dig down to the pipe as quickly as possible to get it repaired.“Unfortunately to be able to do that we’ve had to close Reginald Street to traffic in both directions until the repairs are complete. We have been able to keep the road open for pedestrians which means the schools have remained open too.
“We’re really sorry we’ve had to do this but we need to get the pipe fixed to avoid any customers suffering from sewer flooding. We’ll work as quickly as possible to get this done and hope to have it completed within four weeks.”
