Severn Trent is kicking off the festive season in style, by going on tour and launching a Christmas themed photo competition!

The ‘Elfucation’ team are re-visiting schools to hand out goody bags that include a fun activity pack based on blockages, and to keep with the theme, the company is also encouraging people to get crafty home and take part in its competition to create their very own Christmas-themed fat catcher!

Maxine Smith, Education Officer said: “We kicked off our tour in Birmingham and Solihull last week, and visited seven schools! We went to Greswold Primary School, St Augustines Catholic Primary , Bordesley Green Primary School, Mansfield Green Primary , Albert Bradbeer Primary , Stirchley Primary School  and Yew Tree Primary.We’re also planning on heading to schools in Worcestershire, Nottingham, Gloucester, Staffordshire, Leicestershire, Shropshire and Coventry.

“We just wanted to give something back to the schools to say thanks for having us when we came with the Wonderful Water Tour earlier in the year and to give the children a gift and something fun to do over the holidays with their families with an educational theme.”

Severn Trent plan on visiting over 30 schools across its region to spread the festive cheer and hand out the gifts that include an activity pack as well as pencils, book marks and more.For the schools the team aren’t able to visit, a downloadable version of activity pack is available from the website for anyone to download.

And there’s ‘myrrh’, as well as visiting schools, the company is also launching a social media photo competition to build your own fat catcher to win a prize for the whole family.

“As well as the activity packs, we’re also running a make your own fat catcher competition.” continues Maxine. “It’s ‘snow’ joke that this time of year we find that horrid blockages can easily happen - caused by excess fats oils and grease being poured down the sink – so we thought why not encourage people to make their own fat catchers to be in for a chance to win a prize, while also helping keep the sewer pipes happy over Christmas!”

Severn Trent is launching the competition on Instagram, and the first prize includes a family day out to Alton Towers, with three runner up prizes being a £30 Argos gift voucher.
