Severn Trent invites Crowle community to drop-in ahead of the next phase of improvement works

Wednesday 23rd October 2024

Residents of Crowle near Scunthorpe are being invited to a drop-in session ahead of the start of the next phase of a £21million programme of works to improve the local wastewater network and support the environment.

Severn Trent has already been working hard on the installation of new sewer pipes and upgrades to a local sewage pumping station to increase capacity. The Crowle Sewage Treatment Works is also receiving around £7m of investment to improve the quality of the treated water returned to the environment and support improvements to the health of local waterways.

The public drop-in session – which is being held at Crowle Community Hall,  Woodland Ave, Crowle, Scunthorpe DN17 4LL on Thursday 24th October between 3pm and 6pm – gives local people the opportunity to learn more about the plans and speak to the Severn Trent team.

Charlene Richards, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent said: “We know that Crowle can be affected by flooding during periods of particularly heavy rainfall, and we want to ensure that the waste network in the area is ready to meet both current and future challenges from things like population growth and climate change.

“Drop-in sessions like these are a great way for the local community to learn more about our works and address any questions they may have, and for our teams to get to know more about the area. We would encourage anyone who is able to come along and see more on the project.”

Severn Trent has already installed new sewer pipes along Godnow Road and will now be moving on to Windsor Lane and Windsor Road.

Charlene added: “We would really like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we’ve been working in the area. We completely understand that roadworks can be disruptive and inconvenient, but they’re necessary to help keep our teams and road users safe and we always aim to have all work completed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.”
