Severn Trent launches new digital education experience for thousands of children in its region
Tuesday 7th April 2020
Severn Trent has launched a new, online educational experience aimed to educate and inspire children all about the wonderful world of water.
The Midlands-based water and waste company has created a brand-new Kids Zone area on its website, so children at home can still learn about sewers, water and the environment, and that those schools still open, have fun and different learning activities for the amazing teachers and children of key workers to enjoy.
Dave Cork, Senior Education Officer said: “Usually our dedicated Education team would be delivering fun, interactive workshops and assemblies every day in schools across our region, but seeing as we’re unable to currently do that, we’ve gone digital!
“We really didn’t want the children missing out on the experience, and we really do care about teaching the younger generation all about our favourite topics. We know that a lot of children may be feeling worried, or unsettled with everything that’s going on at the moment, that’s why we wanted to create something fun especially for them. We’ll be releasing new activities every week for them to enjoy on the Kids Zone area on our website.”
Severn Trent will be launching the first activity pack today, which will be all about sewers and how to prevent blockages.
Other topics will include how to save water, keeping hydrated, wellbeing, reducing plastics and looking after the environment.
The company will be releasing new content every Monday, and will encourage learning using key subjects like maths, science, English, history and art.
“We know that we’re all adapting to a new way of living right now, so we wanted to make sure that we’re still giving children an educational and fun learning experience, that they can share with their friends and family, “ adds Dave. “We really hope that our activity packs help provide each child with a unique, fun experience, by immersing them into a new interactive world of learning all about our stinky sewers and fatbergs, where wonderful water comes from, and the role we all play in looking after the environment!”
Severn Trent’s activity packs will be available for anyone to download at stwater.co.uk/kidszone.
