Severn Trent’s new educational experience lets children dive into the world of water from their home!
Wednesday 29th April 2020
Severn Trent is making a splash online and has launched a fully animated, personalised online digital classroom experience for kids to dive into during lockdown.
The 30-minute online session called ‘The Journey of Water’ is the latest in the company’s digital educational offering called Kids Zone, that has been especially designed to teach children about the world of water as schools remain closed.
Dave Cork, Senior Education Officer said: “We launched Kids Zone earlier this month with our weekly activity packs, but we knew we didn’t want to stop just there. We’ve now gone one step further, and created a fully digital experience that makes the learning from our educational workshops in schools available to anyone.
“We’ve done this as we really didn’t want children having to miss out, so we created the ‘Journey of Water’ to be fun, engaging, and fully interactive while remaining educational. There’s a taste of our virtual reality thrown in, and a whole song about toilet paper, pee and poo that you aren’t going to be able to stop singing! We really have tried to create as much of a unique and immersive experience as possible!”
Severn Trent’s education team are usually spotted across the Midlands delivering interactive workshops, teaching children the importance of saving water, looking after sewers, hydration, the environment and wellbeing.
Now the team have developed Kids Zone, this means all children whether at home, or in school can still learn and enjoy it’s educational programme.
“We’re firm believers in education, and we’re passionate about making sure that the kids don’t miss out during this time,” adds Dave. “Just because we can’t go into schools at the moment, doesn’t mean we can’t educate and inspire the next generation all about our favourite topics, and have a bit of fun at the same time!”
Severn Trent’s Kids Zone is updated weekly with new activity packs to download and fill in, and its new online ‘Journey of Water’ session will allow children to make a pledge to save water or look after sewers when completed.
