Severn Trent starts water improvement work in Oadby
Thursday 9th January 2020
Water and waste company Severn Trent is to continue water pipe improvements in Oadby as part of its £19m investment across Leicestershire.
The company is replacing water pipes across the county, making sure it’s network is in the best possible condition with the next phase of work starting on Brookside Drive.
Timothy Ip, Community Officer on the project from Severn Trent said; “We’ve already completed some work on Brookside Drive in 2018, so we will now be returning to finish replacing the rest of the pipes along this road.
“This work is vital in making sure our network is in the absolute best condition, we know the pipes in this area are quite fragile so this work will help make sure there’s less chance of the pipes bursting.”
Severn Trent contract partners McAndrew Utilities will be carrying out work on behalf of the company, with this section expected to take four weeks to complete.
The team will then move on to Launde Road via a short section of Uplands Road and then progress along Woodfield Road using multi-way traffic lights. These works will take place from February 2020 until the end of March 2020.
“We’re really sorry for any disruption our work might cause and we know that this is a busy, well used stretch of road, but we need to make sure we’re keeping everyone safe which is why we’ll be working with the road closed. We’ll be doing everything we can to get the work complete and everything back to normal, as soon as we can.”
