Severn Trent to complete £2.7m mains replacement along A44 in Worcestershire

22nd January 2025

Severn Trent has announced the final phase of a £2.7m mains replacement scheme to help secure water supplies in Worcestershire.

Teams have successfully laid 7.3km of new pipes between Fladbury and Greenhill to boost water resilience in the county.

Now Severn Trent is set to complete the project by carrying out reinstatement of a stretch of the A44 from Salters Lane in Lower Moor, to the Chadbury Farm roundabout.

The works are due to start on 27th January and should be completed by the end of April.

In order to carry out the reinstatement scheme safely, multi-way traffic lights will need to be installed, causing some delays for motorists.

Paul Hughes, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “We want to thank local residents for their patience while we complete these vital works.

“We will have to install traffic lights to protect our workers and members of the public during the reinstatement works. This may cause some delays to motorists, who might want to find alternative routes if possible.”

Severn Trent recently announced plans to recruit 440 new team members to help replace nearly 870 miles of old water pipes across the region by 2030.

In Worcestershire and Gloucestershire there will be £63m invested, delivering 155 miles of pipes and creating 49 new jobs.

Paul added: “While our network serves our customers and communities well, as pipes get older, it’s vital we upgrade them so our customers can continue to enjoy a reliable water supply for generations to come.”
