Severn Trent customers living near Arnesby in Leicestershire are being invited to learn more about the second phase of a programme of work to upgrade water pipes in the area. 

The £3 million programme is replacing water pipes between Arnesby and Knapfton, which will ensure the continued supply of water to the community for years to come.

Following the completion of the first phase earlier this year, Severn Trent will begin work on phase two on 6th December 2022. The works will start at Welford Road just after the Saddlington/Bruntingthorpe Road junction and proceed along Welford Road, completing near Gallops Farm by the end of March 2023.

The team will be hosting a drop-in session at Shearsby Village Hall, Church Ln, Shearsby, Lutterworth LE17 6PG on Wednesday 30 November from 3.00pm to 6.30pm. 

Lisa Orme, Severn Trent, said: “Customer feedback is a really important and drop-in sessions provide a great opportunity for residents and businesses in the area to ask us any questions about the work and find out more about the area. 

“By upgrading our networks, we can reduce the risk of supply interruptions, futureproof against the effects of population growth and climate change, and ensure a continued supply of water to our customers both now and into the future.”

Due to the location of the pipes to be replaced and to ensure the safety of the teams delivering the project and other road users, a rolling road closure will be in place along Welford Road for the duration of the works. 

Lisa continued: “Our teams will be completing the works as quickly and safely as possible and to help us do this, sections of Welford Road will be temporarily closed to through-traffic. Access to properties and businesses will be maintained through a signed diversion route. 

“Any customer whose water supply will be impacted during the works will be contacted directly and we are aiming to complete the works and have everything back to normal as soon as we can.”
