Severn Trent to install more new and reliable water pipes in Redditch
Monday 26th March
Severn Trent is to continue work to install new water pipes for people in Redditch to make sure they have a fresh supply of wonderful water whenever they need it.
The company has been working in the Worcestershire town for most of the year with work ongoing beneath Warwick Highway and, from Tuesday 3 April, engineers will move to the Warwick Highway access road known as Matchborough Way slip road.
Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, said: “We’re always monitoring the condition of our water pipes and we’ve taken the decision that now is the right time to make upgrades in Redditch to make sure our customer’s supplies are not interrupted by leaks and bursts.
“We’ve been working in Redditch for a little while now and we’d like to thank local people for their patience and support while we complete this essential work that will make sure they have a reliable water supply for many years to come.”
To allow engineers to work safely on the Matchborough Way slip road the road will be closed with access via Wynyates Way and Moons Moat Drive, in addition the bus access lanes on Wynyates Way will be open to traffic.
Gareth added: “We’re carrying this work out during the school holidays when there will be fewer vehicles on the road and this should result in less disruption to local traffic.
“Our road closures and diversion will be fully signposted and our engineers will work as quickly as they can to get everything completed. We hope to have the project finished and roads back to normal within two weeks, hopefully customers will appreciate the long-term benefits these new pipes will bring.”
