Severn Trent to start £2m Worcester water network upgrade in the new year

21st December 2022

Severn Trent will be delivering over 7km of upgraded water pipes to residents in Worcester in the new year.

The £2.18 million investment will help to ensure customers have a reliable water supply, as the new pipes will mean fewer issues such as bursts, which can be a problem with older pipes.

The replacement will start on Worcester Road in Evesham on 3 January 2023, with a second team then starting on the A444 Salters Lane Junction from 27 February. The full programme to install the new, upgraded water pipes is expected to be completed by the end of May 2023.

Paul Hughes, Community Communications Officer at Severn Trent, said: “These works are part of our wider project to ensure that customers in Evesham have a more reliable water supply. We are making significant investments into our networks to minimise incidents such as bursts which can negatively impact customer supply, while futureproofing the network against population growth and climate change.

"In order to keep everyone safe, we have agreed with the local authority that temporary traffic management – including two- and three-way traffic lights – will be in place throughout the works. We know that roadworks can be frustrating, and we would like to thank everyone in advance for their patience while we deliver these important works.”
