Severn Trent to start £7.6m construction project at Draycote Water
Friday 11 February 2022
Severn Trent is hosting a community drop-in session for residents in Dunchurch, where they can hear about plans to carry out essential upgrades at Draycote Water.
The water and waste company is investing £7.6 million at the popular visitor site, which will allow teams to lower the reservoir level quickly and safely, to meet new Government regulations.
Plans include the installation of three siphons, made up of pipes running through the Hensborough Embankment. A new pond will also be created to capture any water released during annual testing, so it can be pumped back to the reservoir.
Construction will start in the summer, with a view to being completed by December 2023. The public footpath around the reservoir will be diverted to maintain a safe distance between the construction works and visitors.
A drop-in session will take place on Tuesday 15 February in the main room of the Dunchurch Sportsfield & Village Hall from 4pm, until 7pm.
Janine Billington, from Severn Trent, said: “The drop-in session is a great chance to ask us any questions about the work and for us to find out more about your area.
“Feedback from our customers is important to us – so we’d love to see as many people as possible turn up to the session.”
