Severn Trent has finished essential work to upgrade the water network in the Forest Fields area of Nottingham, one month ahead of schedule. 

Engineers recently completed a £1.5 million scheme to install nearly six kilometres of brand-new water pipes, which will help reduce the number of leaks and bursts.

The project, which began back in July 2021, finished four weeks earlier than expected as two teams of engineers worked tirelessly to get the job done as quickly as possible.

Helen Purdy from Severn Trent, said: “We’d like to thank local residents for their continued patience and understanding over these past few months while our engineers have been working in the area. The whole community made us feel really welcome the entire time, whether it was residents helping us by moving parked cars so we could carry on working, or a local primary school allowing us to deliver a session about the importance of looking after water.”

Helen added: “We’re delighted to have finished the project a month ahead of schedule, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the teams who’ve worked tirelessly over the past eight months or so. 

“Now the work is finished, residents are benefitting from a safe and secure water supply that’ll last for generations to come. In fact, the new pipes will save the equivalent of 200,000 cups of tea or 170,000 pints of beer a day!”
