Severn Trent complete work to upgrade sewage pumping station in Derbyshire

Monday 10th July

Severn Trent has completed work to upgrade a sewage pumping station in Milford, Derbyshire on schedule.

The work, which took place on equipment near to the A6, forms part of a £500,000 investment to upgrade two pumping stations in the area.

Graham Robinson, from Severn Trent, explains: “The total replacement of the kit at the pumping station finished 10 days early and we were pleased there was minimal disruption to traffic while the work was completed.

“We didn’t receive a single complaint in relation to the work, this was helped by our contractors from NMCNomenca only applying the lane closure on the main road when it was required, rather than for the whole project.

“The work we’ve been doing is really important as the pumping stations help us take waste water away from customers’ homes.

“The completion of this phase means we’ll have to carry out far fewer maintenance checks and will cause much less disruption for customers and motorists in the area in future.”

Work to upgrade a second sewage pumping station nearby is set to start later in the year. All of the work will take place on private land and no road restrictions will be required.
