Severn Trent supports launch of Sutton Park’s ‘Walking Through Time’

Friday 4th August

Members of staff from Severn Trent supported the launch of a number of new walking trails through Sutton Park known as ‘Walking Through Time’.

The company has been involved in the project with the Friends of Sutton Park Association from an early stage and made a donation to help bring the new self-guided routes through the park to life.

They were officially launched last week at an event attended by members of FOSPA, Sutton Coldfield Civic Society, Sutton Coldfield Charitable Trust, Sutton Park Rangers, Severn Trent and Sutton Coldfield MP Andrew Mitchell.

Tracey Watson, from Severn Trent, explained: “It’s fantastic to have seen these new guided routes through the park go from an idea to a reality.“They will provide local people and visitors from across the country with information about the fascinating archaeology and history of the park.”

Antonia Watts, from FOSPA, said:“I’m very proud that FOSPA took the initiative with this project and worked very hard over the last two and a half years with our partners to bring ‘Walking Through Time’ to fruition.”

A panel at Town Gate marks the start of the six different trail routes, all have a large panel map at the start and pyramid markers along the route providing archaeological and historical information.

Tracey added: “We’ve worked closely with FOSPA for a number of years as we have pipes running beneath the park and we were delighted to get involved in this project and we hope it encourages more people to get out and about at Sutton Park.”ssion, making water supplies across the region much more secure.
