Severn Trent to complete essential maintenance on water pipe in Derby

Thursday 8th February

Severn Trent is carrying out essential maintenance on one of its biggest water pipes in Derby to make sure customers have a supply they can rely on for years to come.

The company has been working to repair a leak on the 30 inch pipe beneath Alfreton Road but now needs to undertake a road closure to keep engineers and road users safe.

Dav Heir, from Severn Trent, said: “This is really important work that will make sure people in the area have a reliable water supply that’s free of interruptions.

“We know how important a hot cup of tea is after a long day of work and we want to make sure that fresh water is always available for our customers whenever they need it.”

To make sure engineers can complete the work safely, Alfreton Road will be closed between Old Chester Road and the Croft Wood roundabout from Sunday 11 February to Sunday 18 February.

Dav continues: “In order to successfully complete this work we do need to have the road closed to make sure we can access the right sections of the pipe.

“We’ll be starting this work on Sunday and will do everything we can to get it completed as quickly as possible.

“A fully signposted diversion will be in place for motorists to keep traffic moving in the area.”
