Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, said: “We’re pleased to announce that our work to prevent sewer flooding in the Cappers Lane area of Lichfield has now finished. The new sewers are a significant investment, which will improve local drainage, protecting homes and the environment.”

Severn Trent has completed its work to prevent sewer flooding along Cappers Lane and East of Europa Way in Lichfield, and the temporary traffic lights have now been removed.

Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, said: “We’re pleased to announce that our work to prevent sewer flooding in the Cappers Lane area of Lichfield has now finished. The new sewers are a significant investment, which will improve local drainage, protecting homes and the environment.”

The company began work in the area in October last year, as previously, during times of heavy rain, some of the sewer pipes in Lichfield were struggling to cope and had burst, which on occasions has caused sewer flooding. The new sewer pipes are bigger and stronger and will be able to cope better during bad weather.

Gareth added: “Sewer flooding is a horrible thing to happen to anyone, and that’s why we wanted to do everything we can to protect our customers from this happening again. We’d like to thank the local community for their understanding and patience while we’ve been working in the area.”a
