Wonderful on Tap
Bomere Heath - Supply pipe replacement scheme
Our Supply Pipes Replacement scheme in Bomere Heath aimed to upgrade old lead water supply pipes up to end March 2025 as part of our Green Recovery programme – bringing wonderful water to our communities.
Applications for this scheme have now closed
Thank you for your interest. We are no longer taking applications as our trial scheme has now ended.
If you suspect you have lead or leaking pipes and need these to be replaced, please click here to go to our Lead & Shared Scheme.
We appreciate your understanding and support throughout this industry-leading trial scheme. Thank you for being a part of our continued efforts to improve our network and bring wonderful water to our customers for years to come.
If you’ve already registered but not heard back yet
If you have registered before the February 2025 but did not hear back, our teams try to contact all customers who have shown an interest in the scheme, however, there may be some instances when we would not have been in touch.
These could be:
- Your property does not require a pipe upgrade. We have surveyed the homes in your area externally and it seems the properties there have modern, plastic pipes. e.g. you live in a new-build estate.
- We completed a water sample test at your property during the project and our team confirmed that there is no lead present.
- You are not eligible for this scheme, for example, if you live outside of the Bomere Heath catchment area or your property is related to a business (non-household).
- You are on a shared supply: You may share your pipe with your neighbours, in which case we would need all the homes on the same pipe to sign up.
- You signed up after we completed work in your area.
If you had your supply pipe replaced but need further support
If you have had your supply pipe replaced in the last 12 months by one of our partners and need further support, please contact them directly during office hours 9am-4pm Mon-Fri. Your contractor’s name should be on the paperwork you received when completing the upgrade.

Our Supply Pipe Replacement Scheme
Your supply pipe links your home to our water mains. It’s what brings our fresh water to you every day. The pipeline between our main water supply and your home is the customer’s responsibility (or the landlord’s if you’re renting). And, if your home was built before 1970, your supply pipes might be made from lead.
This project aimed to upgrade these older pipes with a new, industry-standard 25mm plastic pipe. Normally this might cost the customer between £1,000 and £3,000.
The benefits of our scheme
To help protect customers with lead pipes, water companies put a small amount of safe chemicals called phosphates in the supply. This coats the inside of your pipe and helps to prevent lead from reaching your water.
Everyone in Bomere Heath and the surrounding area (mapped below) gets their water from the Bomere Heath borehole. So, if we remove all the lead pipes from this area, we can stop this phosphate dosing altogether.
As a supply pipe is the customers’ responsibility, replacing it can cost up to £3,000. As part of this scheme, we were replacing pipes at little to no cost to the customer.
