You already know saving water is a good thing. It means there’s more of it for everyone else, it’s good for the environment, and if you’re on a meter you can save money, too.
Now we’re joining up with Nectar – the UK’s largest coalition loyalty programme – to reward Severn Trent customers for doing the right thing when it comes to saving water at home.
It’s a first for a water company, and we’re testing everything out over the next few months. So, if you get an invitation, get in early, join up and help us create history.
Nectar points
Join millions of people across the UK collecting and spending Nectar points at many of the UK’s leading brands including Sainsbury’s, Argos, Esso and British Airways.
Collectors can also get Nectar points every time they shop online via Nectar at over 500 leading online retailers, and pick up lower prices on 1,000’s on products at Sainsbury’s with Nectar prices.
Getting started
It’s easy. If you’ve got a smart water meter, and access to My Smart Tracker, you’re already most of the way there. You need these so we can track how much water you’re using (plus they’re really neat ways of helping you save water, too).
If you get an invitation from us, click the link on it to join up and you can link your Nectar account to your Severn Trent account. And we’ll give you 100 Nectar points to get you started.
Don’t worry if you’re not already with Nectar – we’ll help you with that too.

We think water’s wonderful. But there’s not an endless supply of it. With a growing population, plus the effects of climate change, we could be facing a future of water shortages unless we act now.
We’re doing what we can at Severn Trent to bring more supplies on line, and fixing leaks more quickly than ever. But we can all help to make sure there’s enough to go around.
We’re trying out a new approach, offering Nectar points to Severn Trent customers to reward them for saving water.
No water company has ever done anything like this before. So this is a trial. We want to see if it works in helping people to reduce their water use.
Right now we’re not offering it to everyone, but if it works as we hope, we’ll be opening it up to more customers over time.
Smart water meters help you (and us) to see how much water you’re using – weekly, daily, every hour if you want.
We need to have an accurate picture of how much water you’re using, so we can spot savings – and that means using smart water meters.
No you don’t. If you’ve already got a Nectar account you can link it to us and we’ll pay any new Nectar points you collect straight into it. So at the same time as you’re getting points from your weekly shop or fuel fill-ups, you’ll be collecting points from us too.
If you haven’t got a Nectar account already, we can point you in the right direction.
Not as much as you might think. You start getting Nectar points when you get through 3% less than your average weekly water usage (based on your previous four weeks).
While that might not sound like much, it soon adds up. If every Severn Trent customer used just 3% less water, that would mean 60 million litres saved every day.
Saving water for one week is great. But keeping it going is even better. So if you beat your target in following weeks, we’ll increase the amount of Nectar points you get. You can find out more here.
